No doubt about it, the full-color display on Blaupunkt’s Memphis MP66 CD/MP3 player turns heads. And why not? The oversized, three line layout offers plenty of space for your track and system information and you can read the bright backlight in just about any light. You can even load your own images into the display via the USB input, which can also be used to connect a compatible portable music player or USB “thumb drive.” There’s even an SD card slot for music files or uploading pictures for the display.
Just press a button and the motorized faceplate folds down to accept your CD, CD-R, or CD-RW disc. You can load up to 10 hours of your favorite MP3 music files onto a disc and hit the road. Best of all, you can customize the sound with the built-in 6-band equalizer to fit your car’s acoustics and your own musical tastes. A loudness control adds bass when you need it.
If you’re thinking about going for a larger system, two sets of preamp outputs and a mono subwoofer output serve as convenient connections for your external amplifiers. You can adjust the bass level from the dash with the stereo’s subwoofer level control. There are two optional auxiliary inputs for connecting a portable music player and another source. The Memphis is also compatible with a Blaupunkt CD changer.
