Pioneer AVIC-N3 DVD Receiver
When it comes to multimedia entertainment, Pioneer’s AVIC-N3 DVD player certainly delivers the goods. It packs a 6.5″ touchscreen monitor, a DVD/CD/MP3 player, and a mobile navigation system in a standard-sized, in-dash package. It can even measure and display some of your vehicle’s performance specifications. You’ll always get where you’re going with ease, and have tons of fun along the way. The AVIC-N3 comes with two DVDs with maps of the entire U.S., plus major metropolitan areas in Canada. To navigate, just insert the correct disc for your part of the country, enter your destination, and go. You can select a specific address, an intersection or street name, or a city’s center. To make traveling easier, you can also choose from over 11 million points of interest, including restaurants, gas stations, hotels, and more. The onscreen maps show you where you are and where you’re going, while voice prompts delivered over your car’s speakers tell whenever a turn is coming up. The built-in memory lets you remove the map DVD once your route has been programmed, so you can enjoy CDs and MP3s while you get visual and audio turn-by-turn directions.
When you’re parked, enjoy your DVD videos on the retractable screen. If you connect an optional backseat monitor, the kids in back can watch a movie while you drive — you can enjoy the radio up front while the navigation system guides you.
You’ve got plenty of system expansion options, too. Touchscreen controls let you add a compatible satellite radio and enjoy great XM or SIRIUS programming, coast to coast. And you can add another source, like a video game console or videocassette player, to the audio/video input.
Pioneer’s iPod® interface adapter lets you play you iPod through the AVIC-N3, giving you touchscreen control over most of the iPod’s functions. The enhanced display shows artist and song information on multiple lines for both iPod and satellite radio, and lets you change channels and select tracks easily. You’ll even be able to see XM channel icons on screen.
XM NavTraffic
Connect the AVIC-N3 to a compatible XM radio, and you can subscribe to XM’s premium NavTraffic™ service. You’ll receive continuously-updated traffic information along your programmed route, including traffic accident alerts, road closure info, plus the average speed of traffic on many roads. You’ll be prepared for traffic snags well in advance, and can adjust your route accordingly. NavTraffic is available in select metropolitan areas, and the necessary XM/NavTraffic tuner is sold separately.
Roadside Assistance
You’ll also get a Roadside Assistance package. You can store emergency contact information and access it simply by pressing a single button. The map shows you exactly where you are, including latitude and longitude readings. And the receiver comes with an offer for a year’s worth of free Roadside Assistance Service.
Vehicle dynamics
Want to show off how good a performer your car is? When you’re driving, you the AVIC-N3’s screen can display several vehicle dynamics specifications. These include acceleration, lateral G-force (which measures how tightly you’re taking a turn), speed, angular velocity (how fast you’re moving during a turn), and vehicle slope angle.
Great sound, easy system control
The built-in amp offers plenty of power, while a parametric equalizer offers three highly adjustable tone controls that’ll make your music and movies sound just right. And if you want extra power, you can connect amplifiers to the three sets of preamp outputs. If you need to keep the monitor retracted while you’re driving, you can still control the system — an easy-to-see ten-character secondary display keeps you in full command, even if the monitor’s closed.
